International purchases are exempt from Australian GST. However, depending on which country the items will be dispatched to, there may be additional taxes, import duties or fees imposed at the receivers end. Dive Diversions will not be liable for these charges, and it is up to the customer to liaise with the customs/import agency regarding their delivery.

For all international orders outside of Australia, customers are advised to reach out to their customs or import agency, or local postal service, as inspections or potential duties, taxes, and fees may cause delays, and these costs are not covered by Dive Diversions.

No extra costs will be incurred for orders within Australia.

In cases where necessary, we may divide an order into multiple shipments. Any added shipping expenses will be absorbed by us, and you will be notified if such action is required.

3D printing offers a lot of flexibility, it allows small runs of manufacture and to be agile in design and alteration should it be required, along with fast turnaround of getting a product from concept to the physical product in people’s hands.

The upsides are: Fast turnaround, small runs are possible and zero setup costs.

The downsides are: More expensive per unit costs, product finish is rougher (but still durable)

Presently, all products are manufactured using additive Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) or Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) printing Technologies using a nylon material.

SLS/MJF is an additive manufacturing technology that uses a high-power laser to sinter small particles of polymer powder into a solid structure based on a 3D model, MJF uses an additional bonding agent and a high powered UV light source in place of the laser.

SLS/MJF is ideal for complex geometries that can be difficult to replicate using injection molding and does not require the initial setup process and cost that injection molding incurs.

Unlike FDM printing, SLS/MJF prints are not prone to delamination and have a similar strength to ABS injection molding.

Currently, all products are printed using black or white Nylon printed using a fine polyamide powder, more commonly known as PA12 Nylon.

The material is similar to ABS plastic where it is strong but has some flexibility to absorb bumps and not snap under pressure. Nylon PA12 (Plastic) is great because of its high precision and low cost.

In some products we may move towards an alternate material, where products, for example, that are primarily designed for protection and could be considered sacrificial, these products could be printed in an ABS like resin to reduce the cost further but would have reduced durability.

This is a by-product of the printing technology, where micro fine plastic particles are fused together using a laser to sinter them together thus forming a rough surface finish from the particles. More polished surfaces can be attained but at extra cost, we have gone with the minimal surface finish to keep the cost down.

We have actually found the rough surface to be beneficial in hiding scuffs and scratches from the harsh environment that diving can be.

As like any plastic-based product if it’s looked after it should provide years of service.
There are some things you can do to prolong the life of the product are:

Minimise exposure to hot environments like cars on hot days, excessive temperature may cause the produce to warp.

Don’t subject the product to sharp strikes, it is only plastic and can still be snapped if subjected to substantial knocks.

As per all dive gear, rinse after diving. As much as we try to use marine grade 316 stainless steel wherever we can, sometimes only 304 grade options exist, and we are forced to use it.

If it’s not designed as a handle, don’t use it as one, resist the urge to pick up a device by a mount.

There are a few main reasons for this:

1. Low volume, as majority of our products cater for a niche market that doesn’t have a high turnover, we use 3D printing for the manufacturing, and this is more expensive than other means of manufacturing like injection molding (which typically has a very high start-up costs but brings product cost down when you are looking at unit numbers of 10,000 plus.)

2. 3D printing manufacturers base their pricing on the consumed weight of the material and therefore price is directly proportional to weight, and time taken to print.

3. Shipping
Shipping small batches of product will be more expensive per item then if you were shipping large quantities where the cost is distributed across far more items.

We have found that it all depends on placement of the compass, ideally, the compass should be mounted between the nose of the DPV to the middle, as you get closer to the motor the magnetic flux surrounding the motor will start to deflect the compass to one direction.

In some situations, we have found that there might be a slight deflection of the compass of a degree or two but is still functional in terms of identifying directions.

In saying this, and as we know people will comment on the above, most diving compasses aren’t exactly highly accurate in the first place, most will have indents indicating 10 degrees in the space of 5mm that will allow for a large error while scootering along in the first place.

And another way of looking at it, as long as the error is consistent it will be fine for maintaining headings and will only be an issue if you are using very specific bearings (in which a diving compass is probably not your go to device)

With digital compasses we have found them to be just as inaccurate as the above diving compasses (even after calibration) and can be 10-15 degrees out just by turning the compass 180 degrees.
A digital compass can also be recalibrated to accommodate the deflection mentioned above.

Generally, the turnaround time for restocking is 3-5 weeks, this is from us placing the order with our production house to when we can ship the item out.

In some situations, it doesn’t make commercial sense to order one specific item at a time as shipping becomes expensive and therefore, we may wait a week to combine the orders to minimise the shipping cost.

Where a specific order is requested, i.e., for a specific finish of an item or a bespoke design is made, then this can be ordered immediately but with the additional shipping expense.

At some point we would like to bring the manufacturing in house, this would get the prices down and minimise lead times, but y’all need to buy a lot more product for that to happen 😉

Yes, where possible we use 316 grade stainless steel fixings, however, a few items are not available as 316 grade stainless (some of the bolt snaps for example) and therefore we have had to supply 304 stainless fixings.
We will endeavor to list the types of materials used for each product.

As all dive gear should be rinsed in fresh water after use this should not pose a problem.
